Earth Salon: Downstream and Upstream with Plastic

The Earth Salon

an initiative of Shambhala Touching the Earth Collective

presents

Downstream and Upstream with Plastic

with Deborah Burns

Sunday, March 10th, 2024  1 – 2:30 pm Atlantic

(6 – 7:30 pm CET)

Free

We’ll dive and delve into the many elements of the river of plastic that flows through our lives. We’ll discuss hydrofracking, fossil fuels, nanoplastics, recycling codes, wish-cycling, EPRs, and more. We’ll also trace our own local rivers down to the sea. And we’ll highlight the work that is being done, and things we can do, to move away from plastic.

This will not be a guilt trip. It will be an informational talk, so we can understand the issues and not feel bewildered and alienated.

Deb is based in Williamstown, Massachusetts, where she is a member of the Hoosic River Watershed Association. She recently retired after a 30-year career as a book editor, where her particular focus was on nature, animals, ecology, and the environment. She is a mother and grandmother, a writer, historian, musician, and painter and has lived and traveled all over the world.

Deb was trained as a speaker by Judith Enck’s Beyond Plastics organization and has been giving live and Zoom talks for the past year.
