Appreciating Right Relationship: Repairing What is Broken, Reconnecting with the Sacred

The Ojibwe teaching of the 7^th fire counsels the people of Turtle Island (North America) to gather back what was lost – the teachings, the ceremonies, the practices that reveal the sacredness of all things.  According to the prophecies, the time of the 7^th fire is now – in order not to follow the path of utter destruction, the time for returning to and revealing the teachings of interrelatedness and sacredness is the present moment.

Likewise, prophecies in Tibet, such as this famous one, often attributed to Padmasambhava, “when the iron bird flies, and horses run on wheels, the Dharma will come to the land of the red faces,” also point to the urgent need for a return to understanding our sacred connection with the earth and its inhabitants.

This evening will explore themes of interconnectedness, appreciation, and sacredness, drawing from the wisdom traditions of Buddhadharma, traditional indigenous knowledge, and our personal family heritage to come to a deeper understanding of how to be in the right relationship with all of life’s forms.
